Val di Vara
Known as the “Organic Valley“, the Val di Vara valley stands out for its healthy environment and organic farms making wine, milk, cheese and meat.
The Val di Vara valley is a small world with untouched nature and where time seems to have stopped, while the small villages, the castles, the parish churches and old mills “speak” with the land’s elements: the wood of the forests, the slate slabs and the stones of the quarries.
Bolano, Follo, Riccò del Golfo, Pignone, Beverino, Calice al Cornoviglio, Borghetto Vara and Brugnato, plus Carrodano, Carro, Zignago, Rocchetta Vara, Sesta Godano, Maissana and Varese Ligure: the villages of the Val di Vara valley are also renowned for their many holiday farms and B&Bs where you enjoy authentic food and wine, as well as the warm welcome of its people. There are many outdoor activities you can do here, like rafting in the Vara river or trekking along the main trails. For gourmets, the local wineries offer tours with tasting sessions.
